I have a tendency to bump into things with my car. Not people - just cement posts, too-tall curbs and the occasional building.
So I'm thrilled to announce that I have found the perfect solution: American Express Premium Car Rental Protection. For $19.95 per rental, they become the primary insurer for your rental car. If (when) a fender-bender happens, you call Amex and file a claim. They take care of the rest.
No hassle. No paperwork.
Because fender benders happen. Especially when it's pouring down rain and you're trying to squeeze out of a ridiculously tiny parking space, late at night, in a foreign country with two fighting, screaming children in the back seat. So yeah, there might've been a small dent in my right front bumper. And the right rear bumper. And a tiny scratch on the roof.
But when returned the car, I told the lovely rental car representative that I had already filed a claim with American Express and I was on my way within two minutes.
*Follow up: it's now been six months since I've returned the car and I've had exactly two emails from American Express about this claim. The first was to say they had opened a claim and were working on it. The second was to say that the claim had been resolved and was now closed. I wish everyone in my life could be so efficient!
