my very first post

prague, charles bridge

My husband and I (both Americans) met in Prague in 1996. Can you just imagine how romantic and exciting that was? Now we have two kids and a dog and live in the suburbs of Seattle… To say that we are longing for adventure is an understatement! Don’t get me wrong, we have a great life, and we’re really happy. But if I’m still sitting in this house ten years from now, I will have lost my sense of adventure and my sense of self.

So. We’ve lived abroad before, we’ve traveled, we speak other languages (sort of). But here’s the deal: picking up and moving to a foreign country was easier two-kids-and-a-dog ago. Now we have to think about things like savings, and schools and “reliable sources of income.”

I know we’re not alone. I talk to people all the time who are itching to live abroad for a while. But it’s just not that easy, is it? So how do you relocate your family to Europe for a few months? for a few years? Let’s see if we can figure it out together.

In the mean time, I think living in the south of France for a few months is not a bad way to pass the time….

more to come!
